Most Insurance Companies insist on Fires being swept at LEAST once a year with a certificate!
to be sure you claim will not default!
Fully Insured, a report of work carried out, and issue a certificate of sweeping by a qualified sweep.
Recognised by all leading insurance companies. ICS http://www.instituteofchimneysweeps.com/
Christine Adey, loves her work, with husband Frank, (always two of us).
and takes great care to make sure your fires are SAFE, and your chimney flues are clear.
Note: We allways sweep with two sweeps, to be sure the brush is at the top, and the cowl is secure.
(we use walkie talkies to check safety while sweeping)

Open fires and lined wood burners and lined Oil Stoves.
All fires and stoves, should be swept at least once a year.
(See article from ICS site, home page.)
Devon & Somerset Fire safety leaflet on my facebook page...
WE use traditional rods for open fires, and the new Viper Reel system for all lined Chimneys.
This is specially made to trail up a liner without any damage to flue.
We, (the Croyde sweep & Stephanie), also use the New American Power sweeping system,
which uses soft plastic brushes, which rotate to clean flues to perfection.
This system is perfect, and on Liners & difficult flues, removes heavy tar, clinker.
Rotation is far better than a push, and a much better job, especially clearing tared up cowls.
For sealing out dust, we use assorted industrial thick foam blocks, to fit any fire opening,
making a far cleaner sweep, as all the dirt is contained behind blocks.
Note: An industrial vacuum is for cleaning ONLY, and does not sweep a chimney.
IMPORTANT FLUE NOTE: IF YOU ARE HAVING A LINER INSTALLED,
MAKE SURE YOU CHECK with installer, THAT THE GRADE & QUALITY OF LINER IS SUITABLE FOR THE FUEL
YOU INTEND TO USE...SOME CHEAPER LINERS HAVE A SHORT LIFE...and even the best flexable liners
...are effected by ACIDS IN CERTAIN COALS, that will DRASTICALLY SHORTEN THEIR WORKING LIFE!
If you can aford it, a Isokern or Pumice liner, more expensive , but will last. Check with your Hetas installer.
To do a good job, approximately 40 minutes, per chimney is needed.
We check safety, and the condition of your fire, and can replace gasket, mend door brade, fire cement.
We include this on our report to you.
Note: That most oil boiler services, do not include full sweeping when serviced. Sweepingwhich is best be done before a service.
Any other safety issues with the fire , we would recommend a Hetas installer/engineer checks the fire and flue.
To search for a good, careful, trained sweep, find Tarka sweeps.
